Taking Your Pre-Wedding Photos At The Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains is part of Australia’s Great Dividing Range and although not very high in global terms, offers some of the continents best mountains and scenery. It’s spectacular, it’s easily accessible – beginning hardly more than an hour’s drive from Sydney – and its wonderful scenic locations have become one of the world’s top places to have one’s pre-nuptial photography snapped.

The region has entered the albums of many international wedding studios alongside places like Japan’s Osaka or Kyoto, or Bali. There are also many professional photographers in and around New South Wales who can arrange for your pre-nuptial shots to be a highlight of the whole wedding and something to treasure for the rest of your marriage.

The background trees can be fluffy and green for springtime or a glorious gold and brown for autumn, for example. Bear in mind it can get chilly in winter and in the summer it can reach more than 40 deg C, so come dressed accordingly, although the professional organisers usually include a choice of wedding dress and tuxedo.

Or choose a stark mountain backdrop for some informal shots, or walk hand in hand through leafy glades for added romance. There are numerous formal botanical gardens dotted around the foothills of the Blue Mountains, so maybe a session there would give a more classical outdoor theme.

Factor in water, too, as a further option. Waterfalls always look good as a backdrop and the Wentworth Falls near the village of the same name are spectacular.

Or stand in front of the astonishing open sky view afforded by the lookout above Jamison Valley, looking across to the Three Sisters hills. This view will make it look like it’s just you two left in the whole world!

Whatever you prefer, you can find it in the Blue Mountains. Discuss what you are aiming for in your wedding portfolio with your chosen photographic professional and they can certainly help you find the right location – or combination of locations, for example one formal and one more informal set. The Blue Mountains’ climate means you are highly unlikely to be stuck waiting for the rain to clear – an important point if your trip is on a tight itinerary. And you’ll be the envy of all your friends for having found such a stunning backdrop!
