Use Victoria Cheap Coach Hire to Check Out Various Events in December!

Truth be told, there is never a shortage of things to do when visiting Australia’s Victoria.  And, like any smart traveller, you will want to save money on transportation – leaving you more for the enjoyable sights and sounds surrounding you. Your best bet here is to look for cheap bus hire in Victoria that will take you throughout the state from the alpine towns and peninsula villages to the national springs to first-class wineries. When you’re not on the bus, enjoy wandering through produce markets and shops. And of course, don’t forget to catch these December events slated to happen in the Victoria region:

The Pleasure Garden

Catani Gardens hosts this immersive new music extravaganza. It is a delight for the soul and a treat for the senses. Boutique drinks, gourmet food, carnival rides, roving performers, and artists await you at the Pleasure Garden celebration. Performing this year are acts like The Correspondence, Tash Sultana, Blue King Brown, The Opiuo Band, The Cat Empire, and many more.

Melbourne’s Bulgari Italian Jewels Show

This show is open from December through to January 29th of 2017, and if you’re a fan of 1960s Italian glamour, Bulgari jewellery is a must-have. It was an old joke of Richard Burton’s that the filming of Cleopatra ingrained in Elizabeth Taylor only one word of Italian. Namely – Bulgari. But Ms. Taylor wasn’t alone in her love of Bulgari jewellery. Shop here and you can achieve the look of Hollywood glamour sported by such stars as Grace Kelly, Anita Ekberg, Gina Lollobrigida, and Kiera Knightley!

Meredith Music Festival

Taking place from December 9th to the 11th, the Meredith Music Festival is another event that sells out quickly. But if you don’t get in this year, make sure to book early next year, because this happening event is not to be missed. It is very possibly Victoria’s greatest music festival! The music lover’s paradise takes place at Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre and this year includes acts such as Angel Olsen, Sheila E., King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Peaches, and many more. To make things even bigger and better than ever, this year’s setting introduces a brand-new, big and beautiful sound system tailor-made for the amphitheatre.

The Great Victorian Bike Ride

Not exactly your leisurely, restful holiday activity, but definitely for the sportier type. It is a camping getaway that literally brings you to another world for challenging, fun, and friendly activity. Currently in its 33rd year, this journey ends on the great Ocean Road after beginning its track from the Grampians. The perfect way for the physically fit to see the beauty and splendour of some of Victoria’s best inland towns and popular coastal areas.

Viktor and Rolf: Fashion Artists Show

These fashions are not solely confined to jewellery. They are considered “wearable art”. This Dutch design duo features many of their innovative and show-stopping works with over 35 pieces from their collection. The show runs until February 26th of 2017 and currently offers a sneak peek of “Dolls”, the artists’ present work-in-progress.

Sailing World Cup Final

Yet another sporting event, this professional sailing series takes place December 4th through the 11th of 2016. The southern hemisphere’s Olympic class sailing showcases only the best of the best. It is a world-class fixture in the sailing world of Victoria. Possibly due to the fact that many offshore related activities are offered, it is expected to attract some 10,000 individuals as both spectators and competitors. Some of the sailors seen here competed in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and many will very likely appear at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

David Hockney: “Current” Art Show

Running until March 13th, 2017, the influential artist, David Hockney, presents his major solo exhibition entitled “Current”. Video works, photography, digital drawings, and paintings are all included – many never seen before – in this collection of approximately 700 works. These works feature subjects such as Yorkshire (the artist’s homeland), Woldgate Woods, The Four Seasons, and Yosemite National Park landscapes. Recent acrylic paintings numbering 80 featuring fellow artists Barry Humphries and John Baldessari, and the artist’s friends and family highlight the show.

World Sailplane Grand Prix

These are not the little balsa wood, slide-together airplanes for kids. Far from it, this exhibition (running from the 14th to 20th of December 2016) shows off the kind of thing that kids who played with balsa wood planes do when they grow up. Yes, the planes are models but in no way small. Designed to show off the pilots’ tactical ability and patience, it all boils down to a test of speed. The fastest wins. What exactly does ‘fastest’ mean? Some of these planes reach speeds in excess of an F1 car. Those wishing to attend be advised, weather conditions do play a part in this festivity.

The Falls Music & Art Festival

Technically, you’re squeezing into the final days of December here (December 28th through the evening of December 31st) with a fun-loaded New Year’s Eve celebration. You can ring in 2017 surrounded by both small and big name talents from the music industry. The celebration itself is actually along great Ocean Road, in the coastal town of Lorne. This year celebrates their 24th annual festival. It sells out early so sadly, you may have to wait until December 2017 to get in on the big bash.

Bonus Note: Keep the Public Holidays & Other Celebrations in Mind

Public holidays honoured in Victoria are as follows:

  • Boxing Day (December 26, 2016)
  • New Year’s Day on January 1, 2017

There are undoubtedly a large number of holiday specific celebrations on all the event calendars, many of them which may not have been publicised as much as the activities listed here.
