For historical and battle reenactment enthusiasts then pencil in the “Ironfest” festival which will be held over 3 days in the vicinity of the Blue Mountains and the organizers have announced the activities on display as “ an arts festival with a metal edge”. Come along and enjoy exciting and interesting, mock battle reenactments and wonder at the various armour and weapons which will be on display. As well as the historical theme, there will also be musical performances including classical, rock, jazz and country, bring your family along and experience this unique three day event.

A collection of works by local artists will be on view for one day only and admission is free. You can also meet the artists who have produced the works and will have the opportunity to purchase any items you find of interest.

You can also see some works in progress and will give art enthusiasts an idea of the attention to details and love and imagination that goes into producing pictures on canvas. Later you can enjoy the local scenery that has inspired so many landscape paintings of the surrounding area.

Jeans for genes is one of the countries most well known and respected charities for the work they are involved in with children’s medical research. This year’s event will be held at the Carrington Hotel in Katcoomba and most of Australia’s biggest country stars will be both in attendance and performing.

Draw on the Mountains

The Blue Mountains have long been a spectacular backdrop for landscape artists from Australia and around the world and from September through October a drawing festival will be held in various locations throughout the area.

There is also the chance to participate in one of the many workshops involving some of the most prominent artists in Australia today, including sketch, drawing, painting, print making and paper making. This is a great event to improve your skills under the supervision of masters along with the awe inspiring surrounding scenery.

Oktoberfest

oktoberfestWithout doubt one of the Blue Mountains most fun activities is the Oktoberfest, which is held in the Carrington Hotel in Katoomba. This is not only a great event for the adults, but the kids can actually have a lot of fun too in the unique family atmosphere setting.

As well as lots of beer and German cuisine, you can also listen to traditional German music and dancing complete with thigh slapping performers clad in leaderhosen breaches.
There are loads of games and fun activities to keep the children amused while the parents enjoy the beer drinking.
